FAQ
Fixed-scope projects start at $5,000. Most engagements fall between $8,000 and $25,000 depending on complexity. We don't do hourly billing — you get a scope, a price, and a deliverable. No surprise invoices.
Most projects run two to six weeks from kickoff to delivery. The biggest variable is data access — how long it takes to get connected to your systems, and how clean the source data is. We'll give you a realistic timeline in the scoping call.
Healthcare and life sciences, manufacturing, professional services, higher education, insurance, retail, and government-adjacent nonprofits. Our strongest vertical is healthcare — we've spent years on EMR data, HEDIS reporting, and population health analytics.
No. Most clients come to us with data that's partially organized or actively messy. Part of our job is helping you understand what you have, where the gaps are, and what shape the data needs to be in to do something useful. We've never started a project with a clean data warehouse.
Python, SQL, dbt, and whatever BI or visualization tool fits your organization. We're tool-agnostic on the output side — we can build into Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or a custom web dashboard. On the pipeline side, we prefer clean Python with good documentation over opaque automation tools.
Yes, with caveats. We build practical AI tools — document processors, internal assistants, classification systems, LLM-powered reporting — that solve specific operational problems. We don't sell AI as a concept or build demos. If you can describe the problem you're trying to solve, we can tell you whether AI is actually the right fit.
Yes. We offer a lightweight retainer for clients who want ongoing maintenance, monitoring, or incremental additions. We also do fixed-scope follow-on projects. What we don't do is sell you a 12-month retainer to justify the engagement — post-delivery support is available when you actually need it.
Yes, and we prefer it. The best engagements involve a point of contact on your side who understands the data environment and can make decisions about scope. We're not trying to replace your team — we're filling a gap or accelerating something specific.
We work with PHI under BAA, support data residency requirements, and follow least-privilege access patterns. We don't store client data beyond project needs, and we're comfortable in environments with strict security requirements. See our Security & Data Handling page for specifics.
Yes. Most of the time the BI tool isn't the problem — the data feeding it is. We can help clean up the upstream pipeline, improve your data model, or build the transformations that make your existing dashboards actually accurate. We're not trying to sell you a new tool.
Scope changes happen — data projects rarely proceed exactly as planned. We handle this by scoping conservatively at the start, building in a clear change request process, and never silently absorbing scope without a conversation. If something material changes, we'll tell you what it means for timeline and price before proceeding.
